Born in the 1950’s into a struggling family in the small town of Bray, Co.Wicklow, Ireland, Betty Cosgrave survived a childhood of neglect to create a remarkable life for herself, that would come to impact deeply on those she has worked with.

As a child, playing among the graves in a local cemetery, she discovered that the world of spirits was more appealing than the reality of her actual life and began to feel that she was “in the wrong place”.

Having reached her teenage years with practically no education, she started her working life making handbags; however, Betty believed – without any reason to do so – that she had something greater to do with her time. So she set about educating herself and learning the skills she needed to change her circumstances.
